How hard is the application process???
The Academy application process is not easy. In fact, it is just the opposite. There are endless forms and other accompanying things to complete—all with due dates. Examples of just some of those include:
• Candidate application package (forms, forms, and more forms).
• Congressional nomination(s).
• Letters of recommendation.
Who's available to assist you?
If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed at this point, do not worry or panic, it is normal. Above all, do not forget about the resources you have available to assist. Who are they?
The writing sample...how proficient are you as a writer, do you know what you might be asked?
The writing sample is an important submittal because it allows the Academy to get both a glimpse at your commitment (through your answers), and to gauge your ability to communicate. In the sample, the Academy is looking for two things—a well written, coherent, submittal and an honest self-assessment.
The Liaison Officer interview
One of the milestone events in the admissions process is the ALO interview. It can be unnerving or relatively easy (if you are a good communicator), and it is always a "make or break" situation. If you do well, you help yourself. Conversely, a poor showing can hurt your chances.
